Coffee for One, or Two: Simple Brewing Instructions

Just because you're making a single cup of coffee at home, it doesn't mean you have to sacrifice full cafe flavor.

There are two simple single-cup coffee making methods that work especially well with freshly-ground coffee:

French Press (Glass) Mug-top Gold Filter

  1. Coarsely grind the coffee beans. Do not over grind.
  2. Steep 3 min (using a kitchen timer is best)
  3. Press the stopper down
  4. Pour the coffee over into a mug
  5. Enjoy

Optional: With either of these methods it's a good idea to pre-heat your mug, which is very easy to do: fill it with extra hot water from the kettle and then pour it off before making your coffee.

  1. Grind the coffee medium-fine
  2. Place the gold filter on top of the mug
  3. Add the ground coffee
  4. Put the filter cover over the coffee (this is necessary; don't omit)
  5. Pour hot water in to just below the top
  6. Wait until the hot water filters through
  7. Remove the mug-top and enjoy

If you are brewing coffee for more than one person, you can use a large french press (they come in all sizes), or keep two mug-top filters on hand, otherwise you'll need to brew in sequence.
